Obama picking up ground in battlegrounds
New polls in three battleground states show Barack Obama surging ahead of John McCain as Wall Street descends into crisis.
In Colorado, Obama leads 51 percent to 45 percent among registered voters, according to the CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released this afternoon. About a month ago, the same poll put McCain ahead 49 percent to 44 percent.
In Michigan, the Democratic nominee widened his lead to 51 percent to 44 percent among registered voters, up from a 49 percent-45 percent edge earlier this month.
And in Pennsylvania, Obama picked up 5 percentage points, going to a 52 percent to 43 percent lead, up from 47 percent to 43 percent a month ago.
The surveys were conducted Sunday through Tuesday and have a margin of error among registered voters of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
