Comex Could Release JailbreakMe Like Web-Based Method To Jailbreak iOS 4.1
We had reported yesterday that based on Apple’s UK and Spanish site, iOS 4.1 will be released on September 8.
We had also reported that iPhone Dev Team had warned users who wanted to jailbreak andunlock their iPhone to stay away.
But we have some good news for jailbreakers as iPhone Dev Team and folks at Spazio have hinted that Comex might release a JailbreakMelike jailbreak for iOS 4.1.
MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev Team revealed:
it'll be userland JB if @comex can pull trifecta. Else, wait for new HW cycle (also remember: hole!=exploit)
According to iSpazio, Comex has two methods to jailbreak iOS 4.1. The first one is a userland jailbreak, which will allow him to release a tool like JailbreakMe to jailbreak iOS 4.1.
The second one is based on a bootrom exploit like Blackra1n, which is more complicated and will take Comex more time to release it.
Apple had released iOS 4.0.2 to fix the security hole, which was used in JailbreakMe 2.0 to jailbreak iOS 4.0.1 and iOS 4. So looks like Comex has discovered a new userland exploit.
We’ll let you know as soon as we’ve any further updates. So stay tuned here at iPhone Hacks or follow us on Twitter or subscribe to our RSS feed.
